OtherMicro-certification paths a few hours, full certifications much longer·Most courses free, certifications and micro-credentials charged

ServiceNow University (Now Learning)

3.3

Free courses attached to expensive certifications in a platform ecosystem where those certifications genuinely pay. The agentic AI material exists but is aimed at executives rather than the people who will build the things.

What We Liked

  • ServiceNow certifications have real and measurable salary impact
  • Most on-demand course content costs nothing
  • Agentic AI executive micro-certification path is short and well scoped
  • Instance-based practice means you learn on the real thing

What Could Be Better

  • Now Assist has no dedicated certification, only coverage inside broader paths
  • Full certification costs escalate quickly once training is included
  • AI material skews to executive framing over implementation detail
  • Platform navigation is genuinely difficult until you learn its vocabulary

Detailed review

ServiceNow occupies an unusual position. It is a platform most people outside enterprise IT have never touched, its practitioners are well paid, and its certifications are among the small handful of vendor credentials that reliably move salaries. That context governs everything about how you should read this academy. Most of the on-demand course material is free.

The certifications are not, and once you account for recommended training the total cost of a full certification path climbs into serious money. For an individual paying out of pocket that stings. For an employer funding a consultant who will bill against the credential, it is trivially worthwhile, and that asymmetry is the entire business model. The AI question is where I want to be precise, because the marketing is loud and the training is quieter.

There is no single dedicated certification for Now Assist or ServiceNow's AI capabilities. Those are covered inside broader learning paths and specialisations rather than standing alone. What does exist is an Agentic AI Executive Micro-Certification learning path, built as three short courses plus a micro-certification, explicitly aimed at executive sponsors who need to understand what agentic AI is and what implementing it on the Now Platform requires. Read that framing carefully.

It is designed for the person approving the budget, not the person building the workflow. As executive orientation it is well scoped and mercifully short. As preparation for actually implementing agentic automation, it is not sufficient and does not claim to be. Somebody who has to make Now Assist work in a real instance will be back in the documentation and the developer material within a day.

Micro-credentials across the platform generally land somewhere between free and a few hundred dollars, which makes them a reasonable way to demonstrate a specific competence without committing to a full certification track. ServiceNow also runs periodic free exam promotions on individual certifications, and if you are certification-hunting it is worth watching for those rather than paying list price out of habit. The instance-based practice is the strongest pedagogical feature. You learn on a real developer instance rather than a simulated interface, which means the things you build persist, break and behave the way they will in production.

Very few vendor academies do this and it is the single biggest reason ServiceNow training produces people who can actually do the work. Navigation is the recurring complaint and it is fair. The platform has its own vocabulary for everything, learning paths, collections, journeys, and until you have internalised it, finding the right starting point for a specific goal is harder than it should be. The search is adequate rather than good.

Expect to spend your first session orienting rather than learning. The broader honest assessment: this is not a place to learn about AI. It is a place to learn ServiceNow, which now includes some AI features, from a vendor with an enormous commercial interest in you deploying them. That is a perfectly reasonable thing for it to be.

Three point three. Free courses, real instance practice and certifications with genuine market value, marked down because the AI curriculum is currently pitched at the people who sign off on AI rather than the people who have to make it work.

The verdict.

If you work in the ServiceNow ecosystem this is not optional and the certifications are worth the money. If you are here to learn about agentic AI generally, the executive micro-certification is a decent two-hour orientation and nothing more.
