Rapid7 Academy is where Rapid7 trains the people who run its products. There is a track for each main product, InsightVM for vulnerability management, InsightIDR for SIEM and detection, InsightAppSec for dynamic application testing, InsightConnect for automation and Metasploit Pro, and each ends in a two-hour Certified Specialist or Certified Administrator exam. The exams are the better part. Two hours is long enough to test scan planning, scheduling, tuning detections and so on, rather than just product vocabulary, and the InsightVM administrator exam in particular asks you to apply sensible scanning practice. People who pass have usually used the product properly. The problems are cost and openness.
The training is sold in bundles that include one exam attempt, and extra attempts are extra. I could not read the Academy anonymously, since it returns a 403 to automated fetches, and pricing sits inside it rather than on a clear public page. That makes it hard to judge before buying, which is backwards for training. On AI, Rapid7 markets AI-assisted detection and triage in its platform, and the training covers those features as product features. There is nothing here on securing AI systems or on how ML-driven detections fail, which is what I would want a security team to understand. The search data is telling: interest in Rapid7 certification is down about 60% in a year and is tiny to begin with.
Hiring managers rarely ask for it by name. My take: useful for customers on the company's budget, not something I would pay for personally.
