Microsoft AB-210: Accelerating Sales Pipelines with AI in Dynamics 365 (Sales AI Consultant Associate)

3.6

A functional consultant exam for Dynamics 365 Sales that now spends most of its time on Microsoft's sales agents. Useful if you implement D365 Sales for a living. Thin value for anyone else, and I have real doubts about how much of the agent content will survive the next product update.

What We Liked

  • Gets specific about the named agents: Qualification (research-only vs research and engage modes), Opportunity, Close and Research
  • Includes agent prerequisites, capacity, billing and credits, which customers always ask about
  • Monitoring and interpreting agent actions is examined, not just switching them on
  • Keeps the solid core of MB-280: product catalogue, price lists, business process flows and forecasting

What Could Be Better

  • Still in beta when I checked, so results are delayed and there is no practice assessment
  • Only 90 searches a month on average; demand is narrow and mostly from Microsoft partners
  • Sales agent features are new and changing fast, which makes exam questions likely to drift out of date
  • Nothing on whether autonomous outbound actually performs, or on the deliverability and brand risk of letting an agent email prospects

Detailed review

AB-210 replaces MB-280 as Microsoft's Dynamics 365 Sales consultant exam. The full title is Accelerating Sales Pipelines with AI in Dynamics 365 and passing it earns Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Sales AI Consultant Associate. It is 120 minutes and 700 to pass, but when I checked the exam page in October 2026 it was still marked beta, so scores are not issued straight away. The outline has five sections. Core Sales configuration for AI (15 to 20%) covers mailboxes, business process flows, the timeline, the security model and the product catalogue.

Optimising AI-driven sales (20 to 25%) covers an AI-first sales strategy, the Dataverse sales data model, agent prerequisites including capacity, billing and credits, the Sales accelerator, conversational intelligence, predictive scoring, relationship intelligence and forecasting. Lead qualification (15 to 20%) is mostly the Sales Qualification Agent. Deal development (25 to 30%) covers the Sales Opportunity, Close and Research agents. Extending Sales (10 to 15%) is the mobile app, Teams calling, SMS and Power Platform extensions. I give Microsoft credit for putting billing and credits into the exam, and for asking candidates to monitor and interpret what the agents did rather than simply enable them.

Those are the right questions. The comparison between research-only and research and engage modes is also a useful one, because it is really a question about how much you trust an agent to contact a customer without a human in the loop. That is also where my scepticism comes in. A vendor exam is never going to ask whether autonomous outreach works, and having seen how saturated cold email has become, I would want any consultant to treat the engage mode with caution. The exam teaches configuration, not judgement on that point. The audience is narrow.

Average search volume is about 90 a month, peaking at 170 in July, and nearly all of it will be partner staff. If that is you, it is a sensible update to MB-280. If not, skip it.

The verdict.

Worth it for Dynamics 365 Sales consultants, especially at partners who need certified staff. For anyone else, including sales ops people on Salesforce or HubSpot, there is nothing here that transfers.
