Lambda started out selling deep learning workstations and has grown into one of the larger independent GPU clouds, with reported multi-billion-dollar deals with Microsoft and NVIDIA and a widely expected IPO. Its documentation reflects its customer base: people who already know what model they want to run and need to get it running on eight H100s by this afternoon. The core docs cover the public cloud, 1-Click Clusters, managed Kubernetes and managed Slurm. They are clear and functional. The interesting part is the Education section, which is a set of practical guides rather than a course.
There are walkthroughs for serving open-weight models like Llama and DeepSeek with vLLM or Ollama, guides for image and video generation serving, benchmarking material, and a surprising amount of plain system administration: Linux commands, RAID, Docker, virtual environments, and the endless business of matching CUDA, driver and framework versions. That last category is more valuable than it sounds. A lot of ML engineering time disappears into environment problems that no course teaches because they are boring. Lambda Stack, the company's packaged deep learning environment, has saved people from that for years, and the docs carry on the same practical spirit. We also liked that the docs include guides for dstack and SkyPilot, tools that let you run workloads across several GPU providers. A vendor documenting how to avoid being locked to it is rare and deserves notice. The gaps are predictable.
There is nothing on cost discipline: shutting down idle instances, estimating job cost before you launch, or choosing a smaller GPU when a big one is not needed. For individual learners renting by the hour, this is the lesson that matters most, and a GPU vendor is not motivated to teach it. There is also no progression. A beginner landing here would find useful pages but no sense of what order to read them in. Our take: very good reference material for practitioners, particularly on open-model serving and environment setup.
It is not an ML education and does not pretend to be.
