Generative AI Basics is a one-hour free class that provides the most basic overview of what generative AI is and how it works. It covers the types of content AI can generate, basic concepts around language models, and some use cases across different industries. At one hour, this is more of a presentation than a course. There is no hands-on practice, no deep exploration, and no opportunity to build real skills.
It serves primarily as an introduction to GA's AI course catalog and a way to experience their teaching format. For absolute beginners who have somehow not yet encountered generative AI, it provides a structured introduction. For anyone who has used ChatGPT, read articles about AI, or watched a few YouTube videos, there is nothing new here. The instructor quality is consistent with GA's standards, which is the main differentiator from free content available elsewhere.
