ClickUp University

3.4

Solid free training that has kept pace with a product changing faster than its own documentation. The Brain and Agents paths are useful; the underlying complexity they are teaching you to manage is the real story.

What We Liked

  • Advanced AI Skills path covers agents properly rather than superficially
  • Certificates are free and tied to actual learning paths
  • Course catalogue is well organised by role and by product area
  • Privacy and pricing of Brain are addressed rather than dodged

What Could Be Better

  • You need this much training because the product is genuinely overwhelming
  • Material dates quickly as ClickUp ships and renames features
  • Brain sits behind an add-on cost the courses do not dwell on
  • Webinar-derived content is less well structured than the built courses

Detailed review

There is an uncomfortable truth sitting under ClickUp University, which is that a product needing a university is telling you something about the product. ClickUp does an enormous number of things and the interface has grown to match, and the training exists partly to teach and partly to rescue. Once you accept that framing, the academy is good at the job. Everything is free, courses are role-specific, the catalogue is organised so you can find the thing you need, and the certificates cost nothing.

The AI material is the current centre of gravity. There is an AI Skills page, an Advanced AI Skills learning path, an Introduction to ClickUp Brain webinar covering the AI Knowledge Manager, AI Project Manager and AI Writer, and training on List Agents, which is the feature for setting up assistants that act on your workspace. There is a ClickUp Agents certificate attached to that path. This is more depth than most competitors offer on their AI features and the Agents material in particular gets into setup, training and customisation rather than stopping at what the button does.

Credit where it is due: the Brain introduction addresses privacy, security and pricing directly. Vendor training routinely skips all three, especially pricing, and being told plainly that this feature costs extra is more respectful of your time than discovering it after an hour of enthusiasm. Brain is an add-on rather than something included at every tier, and knowing that before you build a workflow around it saves a conversation with finance later. The Build Your First Workflow certificate is the sensible entry point for a new user and takes a genuinely new person from nothing to something functional.

Beyond that the paths branch by role, and the branching is real rather than cosmetic, with the admin material covering things a regular user should never need to think about. The weakness is velocity. ClickUp ships constantly and renames things while it does, and training built against a version of the interface from two quarters ago starts to mislead in small ways: a menu that has moved, a feature folded into another, a name changed. Nothing catastrophic, but enough that following along exactly will occasionally leave you hunting.

The courses do not carry visible last-updated dates, which would fix most of the irritation at no cost. Content assembled from webinars is noticeably weaker than content built as a course. Webinars ramble, respond to questions you cannot hear properly and assume context from the live audience. When these are filed alongside designed courses without much distinction, you occasionally commit forty minutes to something that should have been ten.

The broader point for anyone deciding whether to invest the time: this training is worth doing if the decision to use ClickUp is already made and irreversible. It is not a good use of a weekend if you are still choosing a tool, because a great deal of what you learn is how to navigate a specific and unusually complicated interface. Three point four. Free, comprehensive, honest about costs, and genuinely strong on agents.

Marked down for material that ages faster than it is refreshed and for the fact that its existence is partly an admission about the product.

The verdict.

Necessary rather than optional if your team has standardised on ClickUp. The Agents material is the best part and worth doing even if you only want to understand what these features are for.
